Who We Are

The Keswell School provides educational, therapeutic and supportive services for children diagnosed with ASD and their families. Located in Chelsea on the West Side of Manhattan, The Keswell School provides year-around, individualized instruction to 50 children, ages 3 to 21 using an integrated multi-disciplinary model that begins with strong foundation in ABA.

The Keswell School began in 2002 as The McCarton School. It is founded on the belief that children diagnosed with ASD can live full and productive lives as integrated members of their communities. All aspects of educational and adaptive life are targeted, including academics, play and leisure skills, social skills, communication, motor skills and motor planning, and adaptive skills. Through intensive intervention using a broad based curriculum under the principles of ABA, the goal is to help the students learn and grow to move to less restrictive educational and community settings.

The Keswell School's students have access to a wide range of educational, therapeutic and leisure activities. Academically, the school follows the NY State Standards to ensure that children can be integrated successfully into less restrictive environments when they are ready. The Keswell School has a full sensory gym and cardiovascular gym equipment. Computers and technology are integrated parts of learning and communicating.

The Keswell School takes pride in being a family friendly institution and sees parents as active partners in their children's education. Parent training and communication are integral to progress and success in moving to a less-restrictive environment. The school has an open-door policy for parents and all classrooms feature observation capacity for parents to observe their child's program at any time.
